HOLY DYING

Forest Collective, La Mama Theatre and Burrinja present, as part of the 2014 Melbourne Fringe Festival

Developed with the assistance of Testing Grounds, Stephanie Osztreicher’s commissioned physical theatre piece explores the idea and absurd nature of death and mortality and its influence over life. Inspired and adapted from Jeremy Taylor’s 1651 text ‘The rules and exercises of Holy Dying’, Osztreicher will challenge and provoke existential conceptions of life, death and the world.

“Homer calls a man ‘a leaf, the smallest, the weakest piece of a short-lived unsteady plant’. Pinder calls him ‘the dream of a shadow’; another, ‘the dream of the shadow of smoke’.” What will you call him?
